"it takes courage
to grow up
and become who you really are"
-e.e. cummings

Whether I'm having a bad day and need a reminder of the beauty of life or filled with absolute joy, I often find comfort in other people's words. These quotes hold a special place in my heart, and I hope you can find a little bit of the same magic that I feel every time I read them.
In addition to the cities I have called home, I have been fortunate enough to travel to some pretty spectacular places. With each, I gained something--whether that be a new perspective of life or some good ol' indepednece and courage--and I am eternally grateful for these adventures.

About this portfolio
In the most basic sense, this portfolio is a culmination of my time in the Minor in Writing at The University of Michigan. But as the quote above so perfectly captures, growing up is not as simple or easy as it sounds. In the past year I have realized that up until now my life has always been full of transitions--temporary places that I've called home and the memories to go along with them. Given the fact that college is known as the time to "find ourselves," I couldnt help but wonder which points in my life will truly influence my future. My capstone project focuses on these points, and explores how the millennial generation may experience turning points differently. The rest of my portfolio includes an essay that explains my evolution as a writer, as well as creative nonfiction works from the past four months. I hope this portfolio offers a glimpse into my experience as a writer, because let me tell you, it's been quite the adventure--maybe even turning point-worthy.
